Villa Trópico
How Miclijor Group turned a 90s Spanish villa in Estepona into a bright, open home with its own tropical garden.
You know the type. The classic Spanish villa from the 90s: great spot, solid walls, but dark rooms, closed-off spaces and installations that have seen better days. Plenty of people would walk past. Miclijor Group saw potential.
Villa Trópico, in El Paraíso Barronal, Estepona, is what happens when that potential is taken all the way. The owners wanted a family home, and the Group gave the house a complete makeover, from the first sketch to the final coat of paint.
Very little of the old villa is recognisable today, and that was exactly the point
Letting the light in
The goal was simple: light, and lots of it. The old layout, with its separate rooms and narrow spaces, was taken out completely. Now the living areas flow into each other and straight out onto the terraces, so inside and outside feel like one space. It’s a home made for the way people actually live on the Costa del Sol, with doors open and the day moving easily from the kitchen to the garden.
Darker tones made way for light, fresh colours that let the sun do the work. And behind the walls, every installation has been updated to match what you’d expect in today’s most luxurious homes. You don’t see it, but you definitely feel it.
A little piece of the tropics
Outside, there’s a brand-new pool, surrounded by a lush tropical garden, which gave the villa its name. It’s green, shaded and private, the kind of place where you forget you’re just minutes from the coast. Whether it’s a morning swim or a long lunch outdoors, this is where the house really comes to life.
Warmth in the details
Inside, the carpentry steals the show. Madulmus’ woodwork runs through the whole house, from built-in storage to custom details, adding warmth to all that brightness. It’s the kind of craftsmanship that makes a house feel like home.
Old house, new life
Villa Trópico was made to be lived in, but it also shows what’s possible with any older property. Whether it’s a family looking for their dream home or an investor wanting to get the most out of a building, Miclijor Group can take it from tired to transformed. One team, one vision, and no stress along the way.
