Love from Scotland

love-from-scotlandRomana and Reece combined family tradition with an element of the new for a unique day of love.

Our Love Story

Reece and I met 11 years ago at a friend’s house in Glasgow. There was an instant attraction; I loved his sense of humour and his whole outlook on life. I’ll be forever thankful to my friend for introducing me to the man that would later become my husband.

Scottish Pride

We chose to hold our big day in Edinburgh because we are both Scottish but also the city exudes a grandeur and beauty that few others can match. I couldn’t have thought of a more perfect setting for our wedding.

Reece and I got married at the Prestonfield House Hotel, which is just charming and, we think, the most glamorous hotel in Edinburgh, which has more than its fair share of luxurious establishments. Nestled just below the famous Arthur’s Seat, Prestonfield is the perfect mixture of opulence and comfort and it was a magical place for us to tie the knot.

Family Tradition

Father McManus married the two of us. He holds a special significance for our family because he married my parents and both of my sisters at the Marbella Club and Hotel Puente Romano. It really meant a lot to have him involved with my celebrations as well.

White Wedding

I kept the colour scheme for the wedding very classic and elegant. We had the ultimate white wedding! I arrived at the hotel in a white Range Rover, wearing a dress designed by Carolina Herrera. The gown was made of pure silk and featured a bodice adorned with a swirly rose pattern. My bridesmaids wore white and champagne knee length dresses and carried white bridal bouquets.

A Golden Decision

We chose Greg from Sol Wedding as our wedding photographer and filmmaker – this was one of the best decisions we could have made. I knew Greg’s work from my sister Shana’s wedding at Villa del Mar at the Marbella Club. He is so passionate about capturing every single special moment and his attention to detail is second to none. We were delighted with the photos and wedding film afterwards.

A Stunning Setting

If I had to pick my favourite part of the day, I think it would be spending the day at the wonderful Prestonfield Hotel. On the evening, as all of our loved ones were dancing and chatting, I remember thinking this is how I dreamed everything would be. That was an amazing feeling after so many months of planning.

Speed of Light

If I were to do the whole wedding again, I would definitely dedicate more time to the photography and film in order to capture every precious moment. I would also try to stress less and just enjoy every second of my big day. The day passes so fast and once it’s over, the photos are the only memory you have.

Money Matters

My advice to other brides who are getting married would be to establish a budget right from the start, although bear in mind that this amount will most probably be exceeded as the planning takes hold. Hiring a wedding planner is also imperative; it takes all the stress out of the event so that you can just enjoy the moment.
