When any girl is asked about the hair of their dreams, the likes of Cheryl Cole, Kim Kardashian and Eva Longoria usually spring to mind. Thick, glossy, long and glamorous. Unlike those admirable features, my hair is thin, dry, broken and anything but glam, so when Advanced Hair Studio offered me the opportunity to sample their exclusive Flashpoints Hair Extensions, well… they didn´t even have to finish their sentence.

Flashpoints, exclusive to Advanced Hair Studio, is one of the most sophisticated hair extension procedures in the world offering you the opportunity to have luscious, thicker, longer hair without the use of glues, waxes or weaving. Instead, a link of Flashpoints hair is attached to a lock of your own hair resulting in a look so natural, no one will know the difference.

I arrived at Advanced Hair Studio and was welcomed by Dan and his team. The Marbella based franchise is currently the only studio of its kind in Spain and part of Advanced Hair Studio’s international network of over a 100 studio’s worldwide. I’d previously visited the studio for my consultation, which incidentally they provide free of charge for those interested in finding out more. This was particularly exciting as we discussed the length, colour and style I desired. Actually talking about and visualising the hair I´d always wanted was quite an amazing feeling.

I settled into the private studio, a true luxury that Advanced Hair Studio offer, no additional clients overhearing my conversations or gawping as my hair is transformed! Charlie, my stylist, inquired what movie I would like to watch and lay a selection of the newest magazines on a table beside me before disappearing off to make me a cup of coffee. Once my hair was freshly washed, the extension procedure began. I had heard a few horror stories about extensive pain and pulling but I didn’t notice or feel a thing until lashings of luscious blonde locks appeared behind my shoulders. The entire experience was completely pain free, not only for me butalso my hair.

Once all the hair had been attached, a blow dry and trim to blend my natural hair with the extensions finished off the application. One of the unique attributes of Flash-points is that the hair is reusable, unlike other systems; the hair is simply removed and refused at the root as your hair naturally grows, a procedure that takesplace on average every 8-10 weeks. This is a vital cost saving element as the hair only needs to be purchased approximately once every twelve months.

When Charlie announced I could stand up to view the final result, I jumped off my chair! Wow! I was hooked for life from the moment I looked in the mirror, never before had I imagined I could have the long, glamourous hair I had dreamed of. It looked and felt so real, a fact that was only emphasized more during my celebratory drink that evening when a friend stood awestruck and in disbelief, tugging at my hair when I revealed where I had spent the afternoon.
